El innatismo platónico a la luz del innatismo virtual leibniziano

Abstract

Como puede leerse en los Nouveaux essais, Leibniz se proclamaba a sí mismo como seguidor de Platón. Pensaba que, para poder apreciar la vigencia de los resultados a los que llegó Platón, la reminiscencia platónica debía interpretarse dejando aparte la teoría platónica de la preexistencia del alma. En este ensayo, se analizan los tres diálogos platónicos que tratan el tema de la reminiscencia, tomando como puntos de apoyo el innatismo leibniziano y la crítica leibniziana del innatismo platónico, con el fin de extraer los resultados vigentes de la teoría innatista de Platón. Se exploran los mitos sobre la reminiscencia de Platón, la relación entre el conocimiento matemático y el innatismo, así como el papel que guardan los sentidos en la apercepción del conocimiento innato.

As can be read in the Nouveaux Essais, Leibniz proclaimed himself a follower of Plato. He thought that, in order to appreciate the validity of the results reached by Plato, the Platonic reminiscence should be interpreted leaving aside the Platonic theory of the pre-existence of the soul. Taking Leibnizian innatism and the Leibnizian critique of Platonic innatism as points of support, this essay analyzes the three Platonic dialogues that deal with the theme of reminiscence, in order to extract the current results of Plato’s innatist theory. The myths about the reminiscence of Plato, the relationship between mathematical knowledge and innateness, as well as the role of the senses in the apperception of innate knowledge are explored.
